Catrysse's film Outpost (2018) had its first existence in an arrangement for the music theatre performance Earth Diver (2016), a production by Muziektheater Transparant and ChorWerk Ruhr for the Ruhrtriennale.

"We are living through an unprecedented global crisis. But how should we respond to it? Philosopher Peter Sloterdijk warns against the 'ghost of religion,' urging us to reclaim our agency in shaping the course of our lives, rather than passively awaiting divine intervention. In contrast, Slavoj Žižek frames our current moment—at what he calls the 'end of time'—as a kind of collective mourning, where we must traverse the stages of denial, anger, and ultimately, acceptance.

Earth Diver, a music theatre piece directed by Wouter Van Looy, with a video installation by Wim Catrysse, seeks to embody this existential struggle. Through a cross-disciplinary synthesis of philosophy, music, literature, and visual art, it immerses the audience in a profound exploration of crisis, self-determination, and the potential for transformative change."
